Prioritized Daily Task
9:00 AM - Debbie attend church in Shelly, Idaho
Debbie returns to Lehi, UT
After prayer and listening to our assigned reading in Come Follow Me course this week, D&C sections 18 and 19, I cooked breakfast, cleaned the kitchen, picked up the bag for children Debbie put together, I walked to church. When church began, Sister Hales' children, Cara, Emily, Charlie, and Henry came and sit on the pew with me. Suzanne, the youngest would come back to where I was sitting and get what she wanted and then go back and sit with her mother, while her dad, Chaz, led the music. Brother Derek Soderquist gave me a ride home. His daughter, Carmen, was the youth speaker in the meeting today.
When I got home I organized and cleaned the silent toys Debbie has put together for children. I put them back in the brown, orange, and lite gray cloth bag for next week then I set in on our Zoom Sunday Schol class. The teacher read an email from a young Sister Missionary from our ward who is serving in Hawaii. I got her email address and sent her a message from Debbie and me.
After Sunday School I talked to Beth and the children. I was able to face-time Matthew and the girls. They have a rabbit, named Bunny, they keep in a cage in the house in addition to Snowball, their little dog.
When Debbie got home from Shelly visiting and caring for her mother who will be 90 years old this year she brought roast beef. I baked some potatoes and made a salad, warmed up soup and we had dinner.
Karlene and Joe L. stopped to see us on their way back home in Shelly from St. George.
Sean Chapman brought the Land Rover back about 10:30 PM. His mother came with him to take him back to her home with Allie and the children. The park break light was on and Sawn said it had been on a few days and would not go off. I checked it and could not get it off. I read in the owner's manual that it needs to be taken in to the shop immediately.
Emal to Sister Amy Ballard
Dear Sister Ballard,
We heard about Junior, your investigator, who has a testimony of the restored gospel but is delaying making a commitment to be baptized because of offending his parents.
He is a remarkable young man, and he is to be admired for his desire to honor his parents.
I am a convert and found myself in a similar situation several years ago. My father and mother were members of the Baptist Church. The church building was located on our farm. My dad had given the church the land the building was built on. My great-uncle had given them the land the old building was built on. Generations of my family are buried in the church graveyard, located on our farm. No one I knew or heard of had ever left the Baptist faith. My father, my uncle, and my brother-in-law were all deacons in the Baptist Church; I even had a cousin that was a minister.
In the order of commandments, honor thy father and thy mother is number five. The first, second and third tells us we should love the Lord more than father or mother and put Him first. (Exodus 20: 2-17) Christ said, “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me.” (Mat. 10:37)
Before you start down this road with Junior, ask him the questions. Do you love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and are you willing to put them first in your life? That will be a big step for him. I do not know if he is an adult. If he is not of age to make a commitment without the consent of his parents, it will matter little what he wants or is willing to do.
I know for me it was a huge challenge, but I chose to do what I knew was the Lord’s will. It was very difficult at first. My father came close to telling me to get out and never come back. My mother was able to settle him down and not say anything until he had time to cool off.
That decision to be baptized and follow the Lord has made all the difference in my life and the lives of my parents and other family members.
Satan does not want Junior or anyone else to follow Christ. Each of us including Junior has our own free agency. The decisions we make in this short span of time, we call life, have eternal consequences in the eternities and worlds to come.
Our prayers are with you and your companion. I hope you will keep us informed on Junior’s progress.
