9:00 AM Church - I was asked to give the closing prayer. After the Sacrament meeting, Debbie was set apart to serve in the social media for the Gateway Stake by Brother Anthony Provenza, First Counselor in Lehi 7th Ward Bishopric. In the blessing he mentioned her and my future service in the temple. Our home teacher, Brother Mark Grow, and Jody Lewis, a friend, administered to Debbie and me and gave us blessings to get over the cold have. We attended a joint meeting of Relief Society, Priesthood, and youth, with everyone over 13 years of age. The bishop had a member from Social Services come and instruct the group on signs of depression and how to cope and help others. The instructor showed a video of Carol Dweck, a psychologist at Sanford University. She was on the facility at Columbia University, Harvard, and the University of Illinois before joining the Sanford University faculty in 2004. She teaches children (and adults!) with a growth mindset believe that intelligence and abilities can be developed through effort, persistence, trying different strategies, and learning from mistakes.
After church, we came home and Debbie made brunch. We ate and I tried to call the children but go their answering machines. Beth and Matthew called back, face-timed. I talked to them and the children. Maggie was at Matthew and Melodie's playing with Madeline, Bella, and Ava. Andrew was wanting his mother's attention while we were on the phone. While Debbie worked on loading recipes on her notebook (computer), I took a nap until 1:30 PM. Wrote in my journal.
I heard the children playing next door and went over to the Rodrigues. Debbie took one of the pillowcases she bought for the grandchildren to give to them on their baptism day (she had an extra). Kevin was baptized a few days ago and the Portuguese Ward they attend gave him a party. The dad, Alex, is from Brazil. His wife is from the United States. They have several young children. On the pillowcase, Debbie colored the drawings of a boy being baptized by his father and wrote on the side leaving room for Kevin's siblings and parents to also write. Debbie and I took it over and gave it to Kevin. When he unwrapped it, Kevin's younger brother had already taken the crayons; we told Alex how each family member could write on the pillowcase with the special crayons for Kevin and then have his mother iron the pillowcase and what they wrote would become permanent.
I worked a little on message for graduation cards for next week's party.
We studied some, had prayer and Debbie doctored me for my cold before going to bed.
