Prioritized Daily Tasks
I was up at 6:30 AM. The boys woke about 7 AM. Today is fast Sunday. I fixed Weston and Brody some breakfast. The other boys and I are fasting. Ethan, Luke, Owen, Brody, and Weston took showers last night; they mostly had their Sunday clothes laid out. We got to church about 8:20 AM.
8:30 -10:30 AM - Church at Dry Creek Ward - Luke helped pass the sacrament. After sacrament and testimony meeting everyone separated to attend Sunday school, primary and I went with Weston to the nursery. He clung to my neck most of the time. At the end, he was setting in my lap listening to the primary songs. After church, we came home and I heated up some of the leftover dishes Debbie made before she left yesterday. It was a challenge with the boys keeping this day holy and still avoiding contention. There was two TV movie, one about Jesus as a young boy and the other about Joseph, the boy with the coat of many colors. I took the controls to the TVs. Ethan put Weston down at 8:30 PM and all the other boys I put to bed at 8:30 PM. I told them when they act like Weston, (asking for second and third servings when they were full and did not want to eat any more, spitting in the last serving of jello; then scrapping the jello they had spit into, on the plate of food their brother was still eating. Spraying whipcream on Weston, their little brother and having him lick the whip cream off his body, etc.) I will treat them like Weston and let them got to bed at his bed time. I let Ethan stay up a little longer. He took the dog for a walk and went to bed a little after 9:30 PM. I told them stories about their Uncle Michael and Uncle Matthew when they were young boys about Ownes age. They would travel with me on Sundays when I was on the stake high council. I would be assigned to visit wards that were almost two hours from our home in Rome. We had to be at these wards at 7 AM to attend bishopric meetings. It would be noon before church was over and we could go back home. We wanted to keep the Sabbath Day holy and this meant not having someone else work. I always filled the car with gas on Saturday and we would not stop at any grocery stores or restaurants. I felt for my sons and knew they were hungry. There was a large hospital on our way home and the people who work there are not guilty of breaking the Sabbath because their work is necessary for people to continue to live. The hospital has a breakroom for the employees with vending machines. I kept change, coins, in the car. We took the change and I would take them with me to the breakroom and gets some food which we took and they ate on the way home. This story stuck with them because during the day they were slipping coins in my pocket. When I found the coins and asked them why they did it. They (Luke, Owen, and Brody) said they wanted me to have change to buy food if I ever need to buy food on Sunday.
Debbie is going up to Shelly after church in Lehi 7th Ward.
Ethan put Weston down for a nap from 12 noon to 2 PM
I talked to Debbie, she took a birthday present by Jared and Jami's for Jack's 4th birthday on Tuesday before driving up to Shelly. Karlene is gone for the week and Debbie will be helping by doing the thing she does for her mother and family each day.
I talked to Michael, he and the family were at a resort in Mexico. Matthew has friends in town celebrating Melodie's 40th birthday. I called Beth and she called back. We played phone tag and I did not get to take to her today. Debbie called and we had prayer together at about 10:30 PM (MST). I got to bed about 11:00 PM.
